A weekend full of social media? YES PLEASE!

What am I up to? Where have I been?

I’ve been busily consulting on a number of projects recently, including the coordination of an upcoming event in NYC that you won’t want to miss.

A team of social media professionals and I have been helping @sree put together a weekend full of panels and keynote speeches that will benefit journalists, media professionals, and anyone who might use social media in their work. We’re featuring a keynote by NPR’s online communities manager Andy Carvin @acarvin, who has become one of the best sources for news updates in the Middle East through the use of his Twitter feed.

In my opinion, what makes our event stand apart from other social media conferences, etc, is the scope of topics covered in the panels, the fact that novices as well as advanced users of the medium will benefit from all or parts of the weekend, and the social media makeovers that we’ll be offering throughout. That’s right, you’ll be able to get advice on your own online social networking endeavors from qualified “social media doctors”, as we’re calling them.

For more info and details:

The event will take place from May 13-15, 2011, at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in NYC.
